I don't believe it will have any affect on Flickr. The fact that you don't hear as much about Flickr makes it even more appealing for photographers. Facebook seem to seriously underestimate the affect having their name on Instagram will have. Instagram is/was cool...Facebook is not. People who use Instagram like the "hip" feel to it and the fact their mother will not be uploading pseudo cross-processed images of a cupcake to the site.

We critique enough, but this is more about fundamental concept change than being picky about specific UI execution in our opinion. Actually, we think the new view is less cluttered because every Like isn't gobbling up central feed space.

It's not that's it's perfect, but it is advanced. We hope you enjoy G+ or whatever network you belong too. (I think you certainly won't be bombarded on G+, by anything.)

I am surprised, I was expecting a bit more criticism from you guys. The UI is harder to navigate than ever and insanely cluttered.

Also, no official channels (at least that I've seen) seem to be talking about how the new design essentially combines G+, Twitter, and Facebook. It's more of a ripoff than an update.

Most importantly though, they have taken a perfectly functioning site which allowed users to quickly and simply share snippets of news and media from their daily lives into a cumbersome, all-consuming site which requires the devotion of slots of time measured in HOURS rather than minutes. If I want to spend hours digging into other people's lives, I'll have them over for dinner or... *gasp* have a REAL CONVERSATION.

The verb thing is an interesting addition, but I doubt I will be on Facebook enough any more to pay any real attention to how it functions.

I like so many others have defected to G+ where I am not bombarded with a bombast of irrelevant info and three to four sections of a page which need to be scrolled.

Thanks Jill! I just get sad when I see journalism sticking to the old rules. Times have changed and they need to adapt to survive. Kind of like how some things in the Constitution should probably get changed, too.
