I think we largely agree - they are trying to take on Twitter and being more closed doesn't help them versus giant public microblogging, but you're right, this is about traffic.

Yea well, what can you expect. does anyone remember back in 2009 when facebook changed the default choice on the privacy settings to 'everyone'? I believe they only did that to increase the number of pages visible in search engines and to all their users. They did this simply for money, because they knew that if more people saw more pages, they would make more money off of the advertisments. And they made this choice without caring for their users current privacy settings. But hey, what can you expect. Facebook is a corporation, and corporations make money. do you guys agree?

I suppose it's unhelpful to jump up and yell "BURN!" a la Ashton Kutcher but seriously, Kremer did nothing but damage BizSense's reputation today.

Wow. Big stuff! I like the idea of it and sure they will iron out the kinks quickly. The advertising power of this is sick!!! Especially if people are giving an exact location. When ever they tweet, I would love it if a shop or restaurant geolocation would pop up, maybe thats next door or across the street or even a block or two away. It could be based on the persons profile like facebook is. Ooooo! and if it could be flashed at certain times of the day, say, lunch time a chinese place or pizza joint pops up while they are tweeting, based on their favorite foods in there profile, of coarse, then the people that are seeing this persons tweet would be inspired to meet them for lunch. I bet places could even offer coupons through the pop ups. IE show your pop up receive 10% off of lunch or 10% off of merchandise. My brain is spinning.
